Mitsubishi Motors Renews, Refreshes Vehicle Range

All Gasoline-Powered Vehicles Updated for 2016

Montréal, Québec, Jan, 14, 2016 – Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada arrives at the 2016 Salon de l’auto International de Montréal to showcase the volley of changes made to nearly every vehicle it markets in Canada.

Hot off last summer’s introduction of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander compact sport utility (featuring 100+ enhancements) the company today showed, for the first time in Canada, the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback featuring an updated exterior design, improved performance and enhanced interior appeal.

In addition, mid model-year changes have yielded an updated 2016 Mitsubishi RVR compact crossover featuring a newly redesigned, bold exterior front fascia/grille. As well, both Mitsubishi Lancer sedan and Sportback models receive an updated, fresh exterior look with a redesigned front fascia and all front-wheel-drive 2016 models receive, as an option, the latest CVT-8 transmission for improved fuel efficiency, smoother operation.

The new-look RVR and Lancer models join the 2017 Mirage hatchback at the Mitsubishi Motors booth at Montréal’s Palais des Congrès, January 15-24, 2016.

Mont-Laurier, Quebéc-born entertainer Kevin Bazinet joined Patrick Renaud, Québec sales manager for Mitsubishi Motors, at today’s three-product debut. An RVR driver, Bazinet was the winner of the wildly popular reality show La Voix, and a brand ambassador for Mitsubishi Motors’ Montréal Dealers Association.

“With a wave of product changes and enhancements, Mitsubishi Motors arrives in Montréal from a position of strength. With Kevin Bazinet helping us to announce three Canadian product debuts, we anticipate getting a lot of attention at the 2016 Salon de l’auto International,” said Renaud.

2017 Mirage Receives Apple CarPlay & Android Auto™

Available this spring at a starting MSRP of $12,598, the 2017 Mirage hatchback receives a fresh new look with redesigned hood, grille, front and rear bumper, fog and headlamps, rear spoiler and wheels. The exterior styling was given purpose, with an aerodynamic design to maximize fuel-efficiency and a simple, restrained form to help reduce weight, creating a car in which form and function come together.

Inside, Mirage receives a design update with new seat fabrics, gauge cluster, steering wheel and shift panel and becomes the first Mitsubishi Motors model in Canada to receive smartphone interface systems Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™.

The 2017 Mirage’s 1.2-litre 3-cylinder DOHC engine features the latest version of Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) variable valve-timing system that maximizes fuel efficiency and power output while minimizing emissions. With the addition of a roller-type camshaft, Mirage horsepower rises to 78 and torque remains at 74 lb-ft.

Mirage’s handling and brakes are improved for 2017 as well. Optimizing the spring rate and damping force of the shock absorbers while adding stiffness to the front end achieve handling and stability improvements. In addition, bigger diameter brake discs (251 mm) are used in the front and the rear brake drums (203 mm) have increased 23 mm. The brake pad/shoe material has also been changed for even better stopping performance.

Every 2017 Mirage comes equipped with an array of safety features and technologies. These include a seven air-bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) comprised of dual front air bags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, dual side-impact curtain air bags, and a driver’s knee air bag; 4-wheel anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist; and Active Stability Control with Traction Control Logic and Hill Start Assist. Mirage features Mitsubishi Motors’ patented Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) safety cell body construction.

New Look 2016 RVR

The new-look 2016 Mitsubishi RVR arrives in March and features Mitsubishi Motors’ “Dynamic Shield” front design concept adding a sleek, audacious element to an already superb-looking compact crossover.

In addition to the new design, the 2016 RVR receives new power folding side mirrors with LED turn indicators, wheel lip moldings, auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink® and a new 18-inch alloy wheel design. New 2016 exterior colours include Cool Silver, Diamond White Pearl and Quartz Brown. Inside, the 2016 RVR receives a redesigned steering wheel, new 6.1” Display Audio, high-quality seat fabrics. Staying true to its value roots, the 2016 model-year has a starting MSRP of $19,998.

Like Mirage, RVR’s many safety features include an advanced seven air bag SRS system and Mitsubishi Motors’ patented RISE safety cell body construction.

Freshened Exterior on Mitsubishi Lancer

Lancer sedan and Sportback models receive an updated, fresh exterior look with a redesigned front fascia and all front-wheel-drive 2016 models receive, as an option, the latest CVT-8 transmission for improved fuel efficiency, smoother operation and better acceleration plus automatic air conditioning (except Lancer DE); CVT-8 is standard on Lancer All-Wheel-Control (AWC) sedan price lines.

For 2016, two new Lancer sedan value propositions arrive, each available with Mitsubishi Motors’ superb AWC system.

2016 Lancer ES and GTS Sedans

Value-oriented and packed with additional standard equipment, Lancer ES front-wheel drive, and ES AWC price lines are new for 2016.
