Outlander Drives Best Retail Sales Year for Mitsubishi

New models coming in 2016

Mississauga, ON – Jan. 5, 2016 – Mitsubishi Motors achieved its best-ever annual retail sales in 2015 and second-best overall sales (retail and fleet) on the strength of the 2016 Outlander compact sport utility.

Last year was the first time in the company’s 13 years in Canada where Outlander led all models with 6,108 sales, outpacing the Lancer family of sedans (6,008) and RVR compact crossover (5,786) for the first time ever.

Last month’s 1,403 vehicle sales – compared to 1,407 in December 2014, put overall 2015 deliveries at 21,384 for the company’s second best year on record. However, just under 20,000 retail sales proved to be the highest ever volume for Mitsubishi Motors in Canada, and part of a strategic re-balancing of fleet versus retail deliveries.

Rounding out the company’s 2015 performance was Mirage subcompact hatchback at 3,361 sales, and the all-electric i-MiEV hatchback with 121 sales.

“Mitsubishi Motors continues to flourish in Canada with our retail sales having grown to historic highs,” said Kenny Yamamoto, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada.

“Market reception for the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander and its 100+ enhancements has been extremely positive, and beyond our expectations. We expect to grow our business in 2016 with the arrival of the Mirage G4 sedan and Outlander PHEV, in addition to the styling, performance and features enhancements to our latest Lancer, Mirage hatchback and RVR models.”
