Lancer, RVR propel Mitsubishi Canada to 2,046 Sales in March
Mississauga, ON – April 3, 2012 – Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada (MMSCAN) recorded 2,026 deliveries last month, led by strong performances of its leading Lancer and RVR models. Last month’s sales proved to be the second-best March in the company’s 10-year history in Canada, and an increase of eight per cent versus March 2011 when Mitsubishi delivered 1,895 vehicles.
The Mitsubishi Lancer sedan – in SE, Sportback, Evolution and Ralliart trim, took top spot with 869 sales, nearly doubling the volumes achieved in January and February. The Mitsubishi RVR accounted for 692 deliveries, the best month in 2012 for the new compact crossover with class-leading fuel economy at 6.4 L/100 km.
Rounding out March sales were mid-size crossover Outlander at 394 sales, Eclipse Coupe/Spyder at 41 sales, Endeavor at 36 sales and the all-new i-MiEV at 14 deliveries. Since it went on sale in mid-December, the zero-tailpipe emission, all-electric i-MiEV has recorded 69 sales in Canada.
“The rapid rise in Lancer sales is attributable to the recent introduction of the SE all-wheel control model, an affordable 4WD sedan with a starting price of $23,098,” said Tony Laframboise, MMSCAN’s newly named Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “With 5,050 total deliveries recorded thus far in 2012, our dealers are charging toward another strong sales year for Mitsubishi in Canada.”
Mitsubishi’s top models are on display at today’s Vancouver International Auto Show at B.C. Place.
