The 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor: rugged, proven, practical, luxurious

Endeavor: a well engineered, well appointed, excellent mid-size SUV value.

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (October, 2010) – The 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor integrates the bold styling and utility of a true SUV with the driving performance and handling of a passenger car. Endeavor for 2011 is an ideal choice for people who prefer the driving dynamics of a car and have a real need for space – but still have the occasional need or opportunity to go off-road.

Capable, roomy, adventurous and sophisticated, Endeavor for 2011 is offered as a single model and trim level, the fully equipped Endeavor SE AWD.

Powertrain, Suspension and Brakes

Endeavor SE is powered by a responsive 3.8 litre, SOHC, 24 valve, V6 engine that provides brisk acceleration, efficient fuel economy and exceptional drivability. This proven engine produces 225 hp at 5000 rpm, peak torque of 255 lb-ft at 3750 rpm and is mated to a 4 speed Sportronic® automatic transmission that allows the driver to manually shift gears if desired. The all wheel drive (AWD) feature utilizes a transfer case that combines a bevel gear centre differential with a viscous coupling to achieve a 50/50 torque split between the front and rear wheels – which provides greatly improved traction and control in all driving conditions.

Comfortable yet precise handling is the result of a well engineered fully independent suspension system that provides superior stability and ride quality. The front design uses MacPherson struts with the addition of a large rigid cross-member to help control torsional flexing and improve steering response. The rear design utilizes an advanced multi-link configuration with trailing arms and coil springs, for balanced handling and ride comfort. Hydroformed cross members help to reduce flex and road noise, and stabilizer bars are used front and rear. The power assisted steering system is rack and pinion with 2.88 turns lock to lock for car like responsiveness. The large front brakes are ventilated discs and the rear brakes are solid discs. Towing capacity is 1588 kg or 3500 lbs.

Luxury, Comfort and Convenience – everything is standard equipment

Endeavor is not just practical, it includes many amenities such as: Bluetooth® hands-free phone system with voice recognition • manual air conditioning • one touch power glass sunroof • 360W Rockford Acoustic Design® 6 CD audio system with 9 speakers and steering wheel mounted audio controls • Sirius® Satellite Radio with six month paid subscription • 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat • premium leather seating surfaces • heated front seats • sport-wrap steering wheel and shift knob • power windows with auto down function for driver • power door locks with remote keyless entry • colour keyed, heated, folding power side mirrors • fog lights • high mount centre full-colour LCD audio display with clock, outside temperature, driving computer, calendar, digital compass • rear tinted privacy glass • intermittent rear window wiper/washer • colour keyed bumper garnish, mudguards and outer door handles • 60:40 rear seat, dual vanity mirrors • rear heater ducts • 12-volt accessory outlet • black/grey gauges with chrome rings and Ice-blue LED illumination • and 17 inch, seven spoke brushed alloy wheels with P235/65R17 M+S rated tires.

Chassis & Safety

Endeavor is built on a unibody chassis which makes extensive use of high strength steel. This RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) structure disperses energy loads during side and rear collisions and controls distortion, enhancing occupant protection and helping to protect the fuel system in the event of a rear impact. Other standard safety features include: Advanced dual stage front air bags, front seat mounted side impact air bags, plus front and rear side curtain airbags. All five seating positions have three point safety belts. Front seats have height adjustable shoulder anchors plus pretentioners and force limiters for the front belts. Also included are child safety locks for the rear doors; a LATCH system for CRS; steel side guard door beams; front and rear crumple zones, an anti-theft engine immobilizer and security alarm system. Endeavor has a full size spare wheel and tire, with a towing prep package, plus a tire pressure monitoring system which alerts the driver when tire pressure is low, which may help slow tire wear and reduce the potential for a blowout. In addition, Endeavor SE AWD is equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control (M-ASTC).

Thoughtful utility – It just makes a lot of sense

A well designed SUV should offer a level of function and capability that far exceeds that of a car and the 2011 Endeavor does just that. Large doors and ideal ride height facilitate easy entry and exit. The roomy interior provides legroom for all in comfort. The rear suspension is low enough to allow a large and flat cargo floor that facilitates loading. An easy to operate tailgate swings high enough to clear taller heads and reveals a cargo area that can accommodate a four foot wide sheet of plywood. Finally, roof rails are standard equipment.
